Dried fruit is one of my go-to treats because it’s convenient to store in my purse and can be a healthy snack throughout the day. Since dried fruit is one of my favorite snacks, I was happy to try it in a new way with The Funky Monkey Freeze-Dried Fruit.
The Funky Monkey snacks have been dried using a proprietary freeze-drying process. This creates “Fruit That Crunches!” – the company’s trademarked phrase. According to their website, the drying process retains the nutritional goodness of fresh fruit.
“Funky Monkey uses full slices and pieces of real fruits, not the small dices found in other freeze-dried fruit products. Each ounce of Funky Monkey snacks contains three servings of fruit, providing a snack that is delicious, healthy and convenient.”
Funky Monkey snacks sources their fruit from Brazil, and each package has three servings of real fruit. These snacks do not contain added sugar, sweeteners, artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, and they’re also non-GMO certified by the non-GMO project.
People who have food allergies can eat this product, since it’s free of the top offendors. I have an allergic reaction when I eat raw tree nuts or use nut oils on my face, so I love that Funky Monkey snacks are free of the top 8 allergens, including gluten, peanuts, and tree nuts! This also makes the snacks appealing to parents. They’re a healthy choice for handing out during Halloween, sending to a child’s classroom, or dumping into a bowl for a birthday party.
In addition to these positive aspects, the packaging is also beautiful. I love their mascot (that monkey does indeed look funky!) as well as the overall design.
Taste wise, I loved the fruit-on-fruit varieties the most, but I also enjoyed both the banana with cinnamon and apple with cinnamon flavors, since they made a nice add-on to my breakfast of sprouted grain toast and peanut butter. My favorite flavors were the mango with orange juice and pineapple with lime juice. Any of the flavors would be a nice addition to breakfast – on top of oatmeal, with cereal, dipped in nut butter – or just as a healthy snack.
Have you tried The Funky Monkey Freeze-Dried Fruit? What did you think?

I wish they’d asked me too, lol! On the surface, this seems to hit all the marks- fruit-based, dried, and allergy-friendly. I’ve actually been looking for a healthy travel snack, but it’s so tough with allergies!

I understand your struggle! I have a mild allergy to tree nuts so I love allergy-friendly snacks.
