I have been a fan of Trader Joe’s for many years. The love affair started in college and sure as heck didn’t end when I graduated. No matter what stage you are at in life, Trader Joe’s has something for you.
BAO (which stands for Bad Ass Organics) creates fermented vegetables, sauces and drinks using the 7000 year old method of fermentation providing tasty and probiotic rich products. The process of fermentation harnesses the best nature has to offer, using salt and naturally forming fermented acids to encourage the growth of beneficial micro organisms (probiotics).
The Cinnamon Snail is one of my favorite vegan restaurants in NYC. I’ve been a loyal fan since before they even had a storefront, way back when they were a food truck we had to chase down at different places in the city. They’ve been wildly popular here and for good reason — the food is freakin’ delicious, and both vegans and meat-eaters think so.
The New York Vegan Food and Drink Festival is coming to NYC on October 1, 2017 at Randall’s Island Park. Every food and drink item at this festival is 100% vegan. Awesome!
Now that I’ve been living in NYC for a few years, I’ve eaten my way through enough pizza slices to find that the popular tip is true — New York City has the BEST pizza in the United States. Some people say it has to do with the mineral content of the water. Whatever the reason, you have to get a slice or two of pizza here and see for yourself!
This year, I had a small, intimate Thanksgiving with my boyfriend and his mother in Brooklyn, NY. We ordered vegan food from The Cinnamon Snail and had a delicious feast!
I may have given up meat and dairy, but I didn’t give up my favorite foods! I still eat the dishes I loved as a child and never feel deprived with my lifestyle. When people ask me “what do you even eat?” I always chuckle a little, because the answer is everything! I seriously don’t miss meat and dairy when I have such great alternatives.
It’s disappointing when a vegan/vegetarian restaurant you like goes out of business! I’m sad to say farewell to Maimonide of Brooklyn (M.O.B.), a delicious place in Boreum Hill that was known for serving “vegan food for carnivores.”
Music festival season is upon us! In NYC, we look forward to The Governors Ball, which takes place on Governor’s Island. The music lineup isn’t even the best part in my eyes (but hey, I’m a vegan foodie…). The real stars of the festival are the dozens of food trucks and vendors that carry plant-based and vegetarian options. There are even some all-vegan vendors!
The Counter has several locations throughout the world, and one of those is in New York City’s Times Square. They aren’t a vegan restaurant, but they offer a delicious vegan veggie burger!
