For a while, it seemed like every single protein bar out there was made with soy protein isolate, which was frustrating as a plant-based eater. Since I eat edamame, tofu and tempeh every week, I like to limit my soy-based protein bar consumption since too much soy isn’t good for our bodies. Thankfully, Squarebar uses brown rice protein for a different way to fuel up!
I recently tried a couple products from Squarebar and loved the cocoa cherry and cocoa mint flavors. In a nutshell, these organic, non-GMO protein bars sort of taste like I’m indulging in a candy bar, but without the artificial ingredients, GMOs, corn syrup, and high glycemic index number. Tricking my brain into eating quality foods with the great taste of chocolate is always a win.
Here are some reasons why I love Squarebars:
They Pack 12 Grams of Portable Protein
Each bar within the box comes individually wrapped, so they’re perfect to take with you on busy days out of the house. I like to toss one in my purse and have it for an afternoon or mid-morning snack. They’re also great for long car rides, traveling, backpacking and hiking!
They’re USDA Certified Organic
Squarebar products are USDA certified organic. As a health-conscious person and natural health proponent, I look for this label when shopping to avoid harmful chemicals and additives.
They’re NON-GMO Project Certified
Here’s another label I look for as a consumer. NON-GMO means none of the crops for these ingredients contained genetically modified organisms. I know many people eat GMOs and believe they’re safe, but I’m skeptical. I would just rather eat all-natural, all-organic items.
They’re Free of Gluten, Peanuts, Dairy, Corn, and Soy
Hooray! Since these bars are free of so many contentious ingredients, they accommodate the needs of those with food allergies, intolerances, and sensitivities.
They’ll Satisfy Your Chocolate Craving
I love chocolate. LOVE. When faced with two dessert choices, the one with most chocolate will always win. So of course I love that Squarebars are coated in real, rich dark chocolate.
They Taste Delicious ANd Make a Great Add-ON to Your Breakfast
The chocolate component of the bar tastes great, and I liked the inside, as well. It has a dense, pleasant texture and can easily be chopped up into smaller squares to top smoothies, granola and acai bowls – all perfect breakfast meals.
