How cool would it be for vegetarians and vegans to have access to a meatless fast-food restaurant? What if we could order items that are similar to those at McDonalds, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut, but in a totally meatless fashion? Such a dream has arrived! Amy’s Kitchen is set to open an all-veggie drive thru in Rohnert Park, California this July.

Amy’s Kitchen is a household name for veggie lovers. From black bean burritos and Indian samosa wraps to mac n’ cheese and dairy-free pot pies, they offer dozens of yummy convenience food products. Now that Amy’s has succeeded in taking over so many American freezers, they’re on a new mission to “shake up American fast food.”

At the new Amy’s Drive Thru, the company will sell meat-free burgers, burritos, macaroni and cheese, pizza, salad, and chili, as well as milkshakes and vegan shakes. Each menu item can be modified to be vegan or gluten-free.

Fast food restaurants have become synonymous with fattening and unhealthy food, but Amy’s is a different kind of drive thru. Every ingredient is non-GMO and more than 95 percent of the products are organic. Many of the ingredients will be locally sourced. Those with food allergies are most certainly welcome; the menu is peanut- and egg-free!

Now, I know what you’re thinking: That fancy organic fast food is cool, but it has to be more expensive than the competition, right? Wrong! Here are the prices of a few items you can buy at Amy’s Drive Thru. They are on par to other drive thru concepts.

Single patty burger = $2.99

Standard burrito = $4.69

Personal cheese pizza = $5.89.

Salads with in-season produce = $3.99 and up

Well, my mouth is definitely watering. I need to get to California this summer to try this new drive thru! I’m a huge Amy’s fan. Back when I was a pre-teen and new vegetarian, Amy’s products were my saving grace and served as my introduction to meatless food. Now, more than 10 years later, I am so happy to see the company expanding into fast food. It proves that the veggie “trend” is becoming a more permanent lifestyle choice for so many Americans. Who knows, maybe one day, Amy’s Drive Thru will be in every state!
