Amy’s Kitchen is amazing. This long-standing vegetarian company has been a staple of mine since high school. I’ve posted about them a lot on this blog and Lazy Girl Vegan social media channels that finding Amy’s in grocery stores as a teen helped me transition to vegetarianism in Cincinnati, back when I didn’t know how to cook tempeh or make a grain bowl.
Frozen food has come a long way since it first hit American supermarkets more than 50 years ago. Just look at Amy’s Kitchen, a vegetarian prepared foods brand whose founders began with a humble vision of providing tasty meals to like-minded people. Now, Amy’s meals can be found in most grocery stores — big and small — across the United States.
Fabulous Things I Love This Week
Green juice, smashed redskin potatoes, organic pot pie, yum. There are so many delicious vegan food dishes out there! And it’s not just here in New York City where restaurants and stores carry plant-based fare. Those who live in and near Ferndale, Michigan will be happy to know there’s a vegan restaurant opening there in December!
I love mac n’ cheese and try to make a homemade vegan cheese sauce as much as I can out of cashews and nutritional yeast. However, when I don’t want to make it from scratch, I usually opt for a boxed version since there are so many dairy-free choices now on the market!
How cool would it be for vegetarians and vegans to have access to a meatless fast-food restaurant? What if we could order items that are similar to those at McDonalds, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut, but in a totally meatless fashion? Such a dream has arrived! Amy’s Kitchen is set to open an all-veggie drive thru in Rohnert Park, California this July.
Hello, I’m Brielle! Alexandra introduced me last week. I’m a meat-and-dairy eater and have decided to take on a 30-day challenge of eating more plant-based foods. I would like to start my first blog post by saying how excited I am to be apart of Lazy Girl Vegan during this challenge and to share it with you!
If you’re trying to eat better by cutting back on meat, dairy, GMOs, etc, take a grocery trip to your nearest Whole Foods Market. It’s a great grocery store when you want to switch out your favorite snack foods for more Earth-friendly, animal-friendly, people-friendly and health-friendly options. Whether you want organic fruit and veggies or a new packaged food product you’ve read about, Whole Foods is bound to have it.
Vegan eating without the fuss is TOTALLY possible. I took pictures to prove it 😀
Here are ten, easy, plant-based meal ideas – straight from the mouth of a lazy vegan!
A couple years ago when I moved to NYC, I was surprised to find many vegan options at Costco in Brooklyn. There are even several organic and/or non-GMO products, as well.
Here are just some of the vegan items I noticed at the Costco location in Brooklyn, NY. I picked up most of these, and the kitchen is now well-stocked for vegan eating!
